Incheon Airport to Seoul: AREX Fares, Buses and Where to Board

For Seoul Station, compare AREX Express with the cheaper all-stop train. For Hongdae, take the all-stop train directly to Hongik University Station. For a hotel close to an airport-bus stop, compare the bus with the complete rail journey, including the final transfer and walk.

Before choosing: save your hotel’s Korean address, confirm whether you arrive at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and check transport for the time you expect to leave arrivals. Your landing time is not your boarding time.

Incheon Airport to Seoul: fares and train times

These are adult one-way fares checked against the operators’ published information on October 21, 2026. Rail times below end at Seoul Station; they exclude immigration, waiting, station walking and onward travel. Prices are in Korean won so an exchange-rate estimate does not become misleading.

Sources: AREX Express information, all-stop fare table and all-stop journey times. Some all-stop services take an additional 2–6 minutes. Express promotions can differ from the displayed adult fare.

For the all-stop train, a single-use ticket adds ₩100 to the adult transport-card fare and requires a refundable ₩500 deposit. Return that ticket at the deposit refund machine after leaving the destination gate. A T-money card avoids the single-use ticket deposit, but purchasing the card itself is a separate expense.

Choose the route for your hotel district

Where you are goingUseful starting choiceCheck before paying
Seoul StationExpress for an assigned seat and shorter train ride; all-stop for the lower fare.Which station exit or onward train you need.
Hongdae / Hongik University StationAll-stop train to Hongik University Station. The hotel’s actual exit and walking route. Express does not stop here.
MyeongdongRail to Seoul Station, then check the Line 4 connection; also compare an airport bus near your hotel.Transfer walking, luggage and the final hotel entrance.
Gangnam or another districtSearch the exact hotel address for a direct airport bus, then compare a rail route.Do not treat “Gangnam” as one bus stop. Confirm the named stop, direction and last departure.

A planning example: an Express ticket gets a Hongdae guest to Seoul Station, beyond the all-stop train’s Hongik University stop. That guest then needs another journey back. Compare door-to-door routes before paying for the faster airport-to-hub train. This is a route comparison, not a claim based on a personal test ride.

Before making a connection, read our Seoul subway guide to transfers and exit numbers. For card purchase and top-ups, use the T-money guide.

Where to board after arrivals

AREX Express

  1. Follow Airport Railroad / AREX signs to the B1 Transportation Center at your terminal.
  2. Choose the Express ticket counter or machine. Check the departure terminal, train time and assigned seat before completing the purchase.
  3. Use the Express gate and follow the ticket’s train and seat information. A T-money balance does not replace an Express reservation.
  4. At Seoul Station, follow signs for your next train or your chosen exit. Allow time to move through the station if you have a separate reservation.

You can check availability through AREX’s official reservation page. If continuing by intercity train, see our first-time KTX guide before choosing the connection.

AREX all-stop train

  1. Follow Airport Railroad signs, then select the all-stop service rather than the Express entrance.
  2. Use a funded transport card or buy a single-use ticket for your destination.
  3. Check the platform display for the Seoul-bound service and its destination. Track your own stop, especially if getting off at Hongik University.
  4. Keep the same ticket or card available for the exit gate.

Airport bus

Open the official Incheon Airport bus search and match your hotel to a named stop. Confirm four items: route number, arrival terminal, boarding bay and departure time. Save the stop name in Korean before leaving Wi-Fi.

Terminal 1 bus ticket offices are on the first-floor arrivals level, inside and outside the terminal. Terminal 2 bus information and tickets are at the B1 Transportation Center. Use your ticket and the current terminal display for the boarding bay; a bay number from an old article may be wrong.

Ask staff to confirm that the bus stops at your chosen stop. Before boarding, separate anything you will need during the ride from luggage going into the hold. At the destination, check the walk to the hotel entrance rather than following a pin for the entire neighborhood.

Taxi

Follow signs to an official taxi stand and check the airport’s taxi guide for vehicle types and fare rules. Show the full hotel address. Ask about tolls, late-night surcharges and whether the quoted amount is metered or fixed for that service. Do not confuse a city’s base meter fare with the total airport journey.

Landing late: check the complete connection

A train that is still running does not guarantee that your connecting subway is running. Check the actual departure after baggage collection and the final connection to your hotel. If the route no longer works, compare the available night bus, an official taxi or overnight accommodation.

Use our late-arrival guide for the late-night decision, and recheck the current Express timetable for your date.

A departure-from-arrivals checklist

  • Correct terminal and hotel address saved offline.
  • Destination stop and hotel walking route checked.
  • Current ticket price and payment method confirmed.
  • All transfers still operating at your expected arrival time.
  • Hotel contacted if you will miss its check-in window.
